Export of Basmati Rice shall not be permitted on the basis of Documents against Acceptance (D/A) unless such export is covered either by Bank Guarantee or ECGC Guarantee.

  • Exports to the Russian Federation permitted subject to the pre-shipment quality certification issued by an agency notified by APEDA.
  • Exports to the European Union permitted subject to pre-shipment quality inspection as may be specified by the Government through a notification.
  • Exports to Iran subject to lab tests by APEDA notified the agency conforming to Iran’s executive import instructions.
  •  Exports to the USA subject to lab tests by APEDA notified agency conforming to US FDA regulations.

Vietnam – one of the biggest rice exporters

From the statistics, Vietnam was the second-largest rice exporter with about 6.4 million metric tons of rice worldwide in 2020/2021. Vietnam has two large rice baskets – the Mekong and Red River Deltas – to supply high-quality rice for domestic and international consumption.

Thailand – the notable rice exporter in the world

The third rice exporter with a huge rice export volume of 6.2 million metric tons in 2020/2021 is Thailand. Thailand has a strong tradition of rice production that fully half of Thailand’s cultivated land is devoted to rice. Thailand has recently planed to expand the land available for rice production, with a goal of adding 500,000 hectares (1,200,000 acres) to its already 9.2 million hectares (23 million acres) of rice-growing areas.

  9. Submission and Verification of Declaration through e-Export.
  10. Payment of duties and taxes.
  11. Send the Shipping documents to the importers.
  12. Manage and request the tax benefits from related Thai government organizations per item. 
  13. Sumit Export report to Department of Foreign Trade within 15 days from the shipping date.

Rice export methods

On the here and now, there are three major rice export methods, namely:

  • Direct rice export:
